“It is chaos on the energy front in California. People who own homes are going to be paying 45 percent more for power. And businesses are going to pay 25 percent more.
Of course, that expense will be passed on to the consumer in the form of higher prices.
So what the heck happened?
Well, first of all many California politicians were afraid to anger environmentalist groups so they haven’t built any new power plants for a long time.
Every year millions of people come to California because it’s a great place to visit and to live. But, with no new power plants the state simple ran out of electricity.
So, California had to buy power from out of state. Now it is getting gouged by suppliers over which it has no control.
The same thing happened when OPEC raised oil prices — the American oil companies slapped on all kinds of price increases as well and that’s why gas and heating oil prices have almost doubled in two years.
Of course the oil companies deny exploiting the situation but their record profits tell another story.
So what we have all across America is more paycheck erosion. Your raises are small but expenses for basic needs are going up like crazy.
If you live here in Los Angeles, you are paying sky-high housing prices, enormous taxes on just about everything and now your utility bills are going to double.
Are you getting the picture here?
So who is looking out for the working people? Many politicians in Washington don’t want meaningful tax cuts of any kind — they don’t care that your take home pay is getting socked.
Nobody seems to be able to control OPEC, which recently cut oil production again. And no politician will take the blame for the California situation — it’s always somebody else’s fault.
So once again, millions of Americans are falling behind in their struggle for financial independence. Thus they will become more dependent on the government and that’s what many politicians love — because it’s easier to buy votes.
The only thing you can do is to drive less, trade in those SUVs and turn the heat down and air conditioning.
And you can remember. Remember those politicians who pander to special interests — and those include gas companies. Remember those politicians who oppose tax cuts because they believe big government is better and who fail to take the working men and women of this country into consideration.
There are a whole lot of those kinds of elected officials and you should remember them.
And that’s the memo.”
Most Ridiculous Item of the Day
“Time now for the Most Ridiculous Item of the day.
The following picture was sent to us by Terry Nottingham who lives in Concord, California.
It seems her cat lucky is engrossed in some reading material, which of course we encourage, as well read felines are an important part of any American home.
There is no truth to the rumor that once Lucky finished The Factor book it was ground up and used as kitty litter.
That, of course, would have been ridiculous.”
